BACKGROUND INFO:

Not sure if this goes in the lawn care forum or not, I'll post in both areas, but basically...I had thought I would attempt to conquer the quackgrass & thick-bladed grass around my nice TTTF lawn by putting on a latex glove, then a cotton glove over that, then dipping my cotton glove into a glyphosate-based weed killer (diluted of course) and stroking the individual grassy weed blades so I target them and not the good grass around it.

However, I just attempted to do that this morning, and it's a p-i-t-a, also, it's too diffcult to target the individual strands of grassy weeds without ensuring I don't touch the other grass around it (I might as well spray, but I don't want to kill patches of my lawn at a time, especially since I won't be overseeding again until next fall at this point).

I know some of these grassy weeds have deep roots & will grow back if you don't get it all, but I find it much easier to pull these things up with a hand-tiller instead of weed spraying/stroking them.

QUESTION:

-Will pulling them up by hand with the help of a hand-tiller, diligently throughout the seasons, and continually overseeding those areas in the fall every year, will that eventually crowd them out and prevent the still-living roots in the soil from growing through the newer thicker TTTF?

-Or will they just keep coming up over & over and I must live with them (or kill off entire patches of my lawn)?
