You probably won't know until next spring or summer whether you killed it or not. But sleep well as you can always pull it again or paint round-up on it. Be careful of spraying-it is hard to control the tiny droplets and it will drift in the breeze. A small foam paint brush will allow you to be more accurate.

thanks for the reply kimpa ... i filled in the rather large hole that i had excavated trying to get all those thin yellow runner roots, so today i put a crystal lite cylinder container (with bottom cut out) over the tap root & then filled in the hole ...

what i am really, really worried about is those very, very long thin roots that went in every directions for many feet! (but only the one taproot where the vine was above ground)

My friend has that "plant" and I keep telling her to take it out. She likes it! But I don't think it sprouts along all of those roots. I think it just comes from the main root. Let us know next year!
