I cut some branches before the deep freeze hit last night - every other year I tried to use them for outdoor fragrance - very faint - you had to put your nose right on them - and many buds would get blasted by deep cold.
But bringing them in - still a delicate scent but it does drift about the room, very lightly - and when you get close - the most luxurious, complex scent I have ever smelled in a flower, like a fancy perfume with many elements blended in, clean, not heavy. Although it would be too much if it really pervaded the room like lilacs.
Always get confused - chimonanthes, chionanthes - one being fringe tree - onto google and maybe propagation.
