Hi Jen,
You should be able to pot it in a deep enough planter. If it is starting to leaf out, place it in a sunny window and harden it off like you would anything else before you plant it. If it is still dormant, plant it and set it in a cool, dark place until you see leaves emerging, or until the frost is out of the ground. Then place it in the sun and harden it off.

It is definitely still dormant. I potted it, so I'll just watch it and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice!
