"Pulls out easily, though. And I've never had it choke out anything (knock on wood)." Famous last words, I would say. Pulls out easily?!? Not in my lifetime. It seems to come up, but it leaves a lot of roots in the ground, so it is still there.

At my first house it came along for a ride with some plants from my mom. I recognized it as "that thing with little blue flowers that smells sort of minty," and didn't kill it. After a couple years it had choked out the strawberries almost completely, and was taking over all my flower beds. I pulled mounds of it up, to no avail. I am an organic gardener in general, but I have actually used herbicides on creeping charley, and it STILL didn't die. Evil stuff, pull it out as much as you can.

I'm usually not adverse to most "invasive" plants, at least they'll grow here in frigid zone 4! So, I let charlie grow one summer (pretty flowers and in the shade).

Big mistake. When I got around to pulling it out, some of the runners must have been 5-6' long! After yanking them out, I used Round Up, covered them with cardboard, then newspaper, then top soil. I *still* have charlie peeking through, every so often. Tenacious stuff.
