I'll be putting in a row of potatoes tomorrow (even if I have to wear gloves and a sweatshirt!)

I have found over the years the old saying, "Early Easter, early spring; late Easter, late spring" is almost always true, and I have put potatoes in on Good Friday for a good many years.

I put in about 5 lbs of "early" starters a few weeks ago when we were having the 70+ degree days. Haven't seen anything come up yet (I planted them pretty deep). I hope they're okay with all this cold weather we've been having.

Well, I planted 16 hills this afternoon--wow, was it cold out there! It was 20 degrees this morning and the soil was frozen solid!

So the rest can wait for warmer weather--soon I hope.

Hi yall,
I should get out there, but yikes, the ground is frozen again. I did a lot of digging durring that warm week, but looks like I'd have to shovel first now. Traditionally I always planted the taters and onion sets on good friday and the peas on St. Patricks day (this was when I lived in southern WI) just dosen't seem to work up here in the north. Maybe we should invent some more holidays.
