I honestly dont know, but do know this; jacks multiply like crazy underground, so if one bit of rootstock doesnt send up a shoot, another one will. Remember the mantra about 3 years to full growth. Sleep, creep and leap. Jacks are very hardy and natives too, so I wouldnt worry.

Probably not this year. Why the heck were you mucking about with a hoe?

He probably won't sprout anymore this year, but keep an eye for him, he will probably be back next year.

I am pretty sure he is gone for the year, the question is if there is enough energy in the bulb for next year.
