Helenium and Peonies

So I know the saying about cutting your asters in half on the 4th of July, which reminds me I have to do that this week.

However, has anyone ever cut their helenium in half? Some of mine gets so tall, but it never flops like asters do.

Also, now that my peonies have stopped blooming can I cut them in half?

I can't speak about the heleniums but as for peonies I just cut the spent blooms off. The more foliage there is, the more energy for next years blooms.

I am planning on moving my peonies, but am going to wait til fall to do so. They have outgrown the spot I had them planted.

Fall is good. Be sure not to plant them too deep in their new spot.
