Fasciation?

Nope, not fascination, every stem on the plants is affected, the stems got fat and are still rounded, not flat, and where it goes high enough up a stem to hit the leaf, the leaf gets weird too. I checked, the Cameo is still there just not very full, the other two seem to be doing quite fine despite the disfiguring.

Weird, my gut instinct says it's an insect infestation, kind of like a gall, someting laid it's eggs in there, but that could be totally wrong. If they aren't too stressed I guess I would move 'em away from one another to try and limit the infection. If they come true from seed I'd also save as much seed as you can this year just in case. Can you contact the grower and ask if this has been a problem for others? Maybe ask on the perennial forum, lotsa smarties on there. Wish I could be more help, only problem I ever had w/ rue anemone was rust and that was my own fault. Good Luck!

I think I may have the same problem. The stems and leaves get thicker and distorted and sometimes they split open and a black powdery substance comes out. I think it is a fungus of some sort.

Well, the fungus came back. One of the three anemonellas lived after last year and it became infected again this year. A photo was sent the U of MN and they said it looks like smut. What can I do about smut?
