As you said, its an apples vs. oranges comparison in many ways and likely others have had the opposite results. But whatever works for you is what counts. Personally I take a pass on both varieties.

I know this is old but Dave your always helping me so I'm wondering why you don't like beef master and also what zone your in? What's your fav tomatos???

Kind of funny this thread should re-appear after 2 years. I actually planted a Beefmaster this year...after a 1 year hiatus. We will see....My skills and knowledge have increased substantially in two years. I suspect that my favorite standbys that I plant now will be better than the BM. We will see...haha I certainly do not plant maters in partial/limited sun like I used to!

Etta - like most of us, my zones and location are all part of my user name and appear in the above post - (6b-7a No. Central AR HZ8 Sun-35). It isn't so much that I dislike Beefmaster. It is just that there are so many better beefsteak varieties IMO and I have posted lists in most all the 'favorites' discussions here. But off the top of my head I'd take Big Beef, Giant Belgium, Brandy Boy, Mortgage Lifter, Crnkovic Yugoslavian, German Johnson RL, Marianna's Peace, Pink Ponderosa, Boondocks etc.

Hi Sey...I like Big Beef primarily because of productivity here. It is a tomato machine. Honestly, I like the taste of Brandywine Cowlick's, Cherokee Purple, and Stump of the World a little bit better.

Ed, i was just kidding about Big Beef. Def Cp and BW are two of the tastier maters.
