Didn't seem to make a difference.
Not much really happens until Spring

Considering that garlic will sometimes poke its head up before winter, I don't agree that "Not much really happens until Spring". But . . . the "Didn't seem to make a difference." comment is still probably true. I'll bet you will have a respectable harvest too. After all, some procrastinators don't plant until spring (but not recommended).

Garlic is like tulips, if you can work the soil (not frozen), you can plant them. It may even be better to plant later as there will be less energy sent to top growth which will only be nailed by the cold.

I procrastinate every year. This year I just planted it a week ago Dec 1st. I had to crack through a 2" frost layer to get er done. Good thing I did because the ground is good and hard now. If your hands can stand it the garlic will be fine. Mine always is.

Wish I had found this forum sooner. I wanted to plant garlic but had no idea it had to be in fall.
Did u buy your bulbs from a dealer or r the ones in the store ok. I know they sprout but not sure how good they r at producing.
I had an area that has a pile of leaves on the ground and I bet it is not frozen under there. I could still put some in if i can get my hands on some bulbs.

You want to get garlic that is hardy in the North. The garlic from the grocery store will disappoint. Otherwise, if the ground isn't frozen, you're good to go. There are some garlic growers on the web. Maybe they have some leftovers you could get cheap. Try a google search & see what you come up with.....
