Myth about the brass nail. In what kind of environment do you like that Yaupons are such a problem? Just curious.

access to all my property. I have patches of trees with the yaupon grown up on the outside edges. They are crowding out the young tree's that I want to grow. If I pulled up or killed around 1000 yaupon shrubs then I might put a dent in my yaupon population.

Brush-B-Gone (triclopyr) is the only thing I have found that works. I think originally Yaupon holly was kept in check by natural fires, but fire supression has allowed them to greatly expand.

Triclopyr (Brush B Gon(no e), etc) or Glyphosate (Roundup, etc), applied full strength to the freshly cut stumps will easily kill the plant. Do wait until warm weather (when the plants are growing) for best results. Both chemicals are readily available just about anywhere that sells gardening related stuff. All the big-box stores have them.
