question about picked tomato storage

I've been waiting forever for my first heirloom slicer to ripen and finally today I saw my first Gold Medal is nearly there! I have had numerous tomatoes chewed up by critters this year so I picked the tomato even though it is not 100% ripen yet. But I broke the skin when I tried to cut it off the vine. Now I don't know if it can still continue to ripen on the kitchen counter. Any suggestions?

Sure it can. Honest. Tomatoes suffer all sorts of injuries and just keep right on ripening. If it makes you feel better just put a piece of scotch tape over the wound to keep air out and then cut it off when ready to eat. ;)
