Weird winter

This has been a weird winter. The Junco arrived early and I thought it was going to be a nasty winter. Instead, the winter has been so mild that the ducks didn't even bother migrating, which means they come by and decimate the ground feeders.

On the plus side, I did see a few hawks hanging out in the trees and there are a million cardinals.

its been a mild mostly dry winter here with only 70% of normal snowfall here in the mountains. and just patches of snow on the ground in the valleys. have had some colder nights with it being clear most of the time. But warmer daytime temps than usual for this time of year. so its frozen at night and muddy in the day. have been getting the usual winter birds but just not in large numbers.

Same here, I have some flowers that normally bloom in april already in full bloom. Some flowers that normally die back stayed out all year. I am just hoping we don't have a freeze now because I have noticed my hydrangea (I have many) have already started opening buds. If it freezes now I will see very few flowers. On the other hand if the weather holds I will have tons of flowers. I am already seeing many butterflies out as well.
