I think you can have a tall entertainment center with a console built into it for the TV. Both of the ones pictured below are more contemporary than what you have, but you could either choose to go somewhat more contemporary in this area or find one that is more traditional. A lot of people are gradually updating their homes into a transitional look, somewhere between traditional and contemporary.

Instead of a large furniture piece,surround the TV with Art hung Gallery Style. That way you can go as high and wide as you like, and change easily. Not a TV here but I think it illustrates the idea. Components could go into many different types of furniture if you like ,or just on small shelves.
