Opalka is commonly listed for trades over on the Tomato Seed Exchange forum. You might check there.

In my personal experience with it over several years I find it to be no more susceptible to diseases than any other varieties, but no worse either. BER can be a problem with it just as with any other paste variety.

I grow Opalkas, they are my favorite tomato. I get blight every year (including this one) but the opalkas keep churning out tons of maters despite looking poorly from blight.

I did grow Amish paste one year and the plants did very poorly for me and died before the end of the season. Could have been a fluke.

One thing I love about opalkas is they are nearly all tomato meat, so very good for canning or anything you would like to use them diced up in.

Mine have been great flavored (especially for a paste) and great texture too, I like the firmness. but they don't ripen evenly. The top stays green too long, so I have to pick them early so the bottoms don't start to rot (the pointed ends can rot easily) Then by the time it's mostly ripe the top is shriveled somewhat. But then I just cut off the green part and use the rest which is great for sauce or just eating.

I agree with catman529. Mine are green on top red on bottom. I will be canning some today so I'll have a better opinion later. I am a little disappointed in them because I had heard such great reviews. My plants have blight and the toms are a little scrawny for my liking. I expected them to be bigger.

Not sure if I will give them another chance next year.
