Tomato press

Hi all!

I just foun this forum yesterday and was surprised to find a tomato forum. I suppose I shouldn't be. Anyway, I had to relate to you all a discovery at the local foodie store.

I found a tomato press. I had been making a mess in the kitchen making tomato juice/puree using a potatoe ricer. Yeah, sore hands. I freeze the toms, thaw, juice. With my new "discovery" This is a breeze now. I am so impressed with this tomato press I hdd to share my excitment.

The unit is very efficient. As soon as I got home I picked about 15 2-4" toms. I got nearly a gallon of juice/puree from the fresh toms. For $30 I was quite impressed. The instructions say to boil the toms 15 seconds to loosen the skin, chop to 1" chunks, process. Puree comes out one side, skin and seed out the other. I'll try to post a link here. http://www.kitchencontraptions.com/archives/002606.php

I don't do canning (yet). Everything freezes great. Should've bought a bigger freezer.

I live near St. Paul, MN and the toms have been great this year.

Thanks for listening.

John
