I think your friend nailed it. I would have called them "Little Red" and "Big Yellow". Nice pictures and nice looking tomatoes, but if I had to compare them to anything in my garden it would be "Marglobe" for the red and "I Don't Know" for the yellow.

Thank you for the input. Marglobe is a possibility I didn't think of. The yellows have orange insides, just got another pic.....

Big yellow tomatoes with very few seeds

I am very new to growing tomatoes and can't id the red, but the yellow looks like the yellows I grew this year, Persimmon.

I don't think there's any chace at all of IDing the red and yellow tomatoes you show. Perhaps these once had a specific variety name but they don't now.

There are several hundreds of varieties that look like the red one and almost the same number for the yellow beefsteak.

So enjoy them for what they are.

Why don't you ask the person who gave you the seeds or plants if they have been grown in his or her family for years and are perhaps a family heirloom in which case they might not have had a specific variety name or if they did those names have been lost thru the years which isn't that uncommon.

Thank you all for your responses but I think Carolyn is spot on with her post(as usual). I do believe it's a family heirloom and has been passed down from generation to generation.

Looks like I too, will be calling them "Red'ens" and "Big Yellar'ens" :)
