Catfacing and seed saving

Growing mostly heirloom, large fruited tomatoes, I get my share of catfacing on my first ripening tomatoes. I usually save the worst fruit for seed tomatoes saving their seeds via the usual fermentation process. I have been reading that some gardeners recommend not saving seeds from catfaced tomatoes. My thinking is that catfacing is an environmental, temperature related, physiological condition and not something carried in the fruit's genes. Anyone have a scientific answer? Thanks.
