Bisignano #2 was introduced to the SSE Yearbook back in 1987.

It should be red, indet, and several of the listers of this variety in the early 90's ( I just happen to have scooped the 1991 SSE YEarbook off the floor next to me) report variable shapes on the same plant, from plum, to globe to an oblate ( flattened) fruit form to almost heart shaped.

And some got mainly just plum shaped fruits.

But all plants should give red fruits, whatever the fruit shape.

Named after a Mr Bisignano who was a Victory Garden contest finalist in 1984.

There is also a listing for just Bisignano and one for Bisignano #1 and I don't really see that much difference between the two of these as compared with Bisignano #2 except for possibly smaller fruit size.

The most listings were by far for Bisignano #2 with only one person listing Bisignano and 3 listing Bisignano #1 while 9 persons listed #2.

i grew #2 in the 2004 season. all were red. some were bomb shaped some were sorta heart shaped. my seed was from craig and i say that as i am sure the seed was true to type. bisignano #2 is absolutely the worst tasting tomato i ever grew and that includes yellow pear. they were rock hard when ripe to the point of being crunchy with poor taste but they made the best sauce i ever made from garden tomatoes! cook for ~ 20 minutes and you have a thick sauce that was very good. go figure.

I would have loved the real Bisignano #2 for sauce making. Anyways, the fake ones are in the saucepot already adding volume to the other real ones like Martino's Roma and Opalka.
