monarch eggs!

When I got home today, there was a monarch flitting around the backyard, and when I saw it land in my garden, I went and grabbed the camera.

It is a female (she's still out there), and as I watched I realized that the reason she seemed very restless (she was not sitting still for long in any one place) was that she was laying eggs!!!! I watched her lay several throughout my garden (Asclepias tuberosa & A. incarnata are in there). She is still out there. I took lots of pics. She also went over to the porch and fed on the Profusion Orange Zinnia that is next to the step. I took some pics of her there too.

The reason I'm so excited about it is that I started this garden in 2003, the spring after we moved here, and it's made up of lots of natives/perennials & a few others so that I can enjoy watching all the insects & birds that use them. It's been so great, and although I have seen a monarch there before, now I can say that I have monarch eggs in there too! :)
