Pelecinus polyturator

I thought people might enjoy seeing this little lady that I found on the flowers in the back yard this morning. I don't think the species has a common name, although it is an unusual and fairly common insect. She uses that scorpion tail to lay eggs on beetle grubs, such as june bugs, burrowing underground. Males have a normal abdomen. By the way, she doesn't sting.

Aren't bugs interesting?
