Lowe's has woodworking books. They usually tell what equipment is needed.

How much space do you have? Are you starting from scratch? Are you planning on working year round? What kind of climate zone do you live in? These are all questions you need to ask yourself.

One of the most compact workshops I've seen was a 20'x40' space. This allowed the owner to line the walls with work stations, center a 4'x8' work table with a moveable extension to it that stored under one end of it and a table saw on the other end, and still maintain a 4' wide work space around it. It had plenty of storage space, excellent lighting, a sliding barn door on one side and double swinging garage doors on the end that opened up onto a shaded work area that was 20' wide by 30' long.

Work Stations: table saw (center area), drill press, band saw, router table (moveable that could be located at the end of the work table), belt sander, joiner, spindle sander and a portable planer (again that could be located at the end of the work table). And of course there was the workshop wide vac system.

Then there were the hand tools (both power and manual) and all the accessories any man could have wanted. I swear he must have had at least 40-50 different types of clamps.

The back side of his workshop had a paint booth with ventilation system and heat lamps.

Stock storage was in the attic via a pull down stair unit

Insulated, air conditioned, heated and an epoxy finished floor.

Of course very few of us will ever get a golden parachute deal like my friend did. He decided that in his retirement years he wanted to get back to some serious wood craft work......and I guess with a $75K budget you can do some serious wood work.
