Yesterday I discovered BER on one of my green beef steak tomatoes - it was at the point where it was starting to turn from green to a yellowish color.
I've had BER years ago when I grow tomatoes for the first time (in pots) and have been terrified of it every since.
The tomato with BER was in the greenhouse - I have 6 heirloom plants, 6 beef steak, 6 roma, and 4 manitoba plants in the greenhouse. They are all in raised beds that are about 30 inches deep and are planted so each plant has about 3.5 - 4 sq ft of space.
The manitoba's are the only ones ripening to date and none have had BER and nothing else is showing signs of it .... yet.
Are all my tomatoes doomed? maybe just the beef steak? or if I'm really luck just this one???
Is there anything I can do at this point to help prevent it? All the plants are forming fruit and are at various stages - I've been sniping flowers for a while now so there shouldn't be any new fruit forming.
Any advice would help.
