Update: Dacor oven problems solved by Ferguson

Those of you who were here a couple of years back would have heard of my various problems with Dacor oven. Like numerous people who have shared their Dacor quality problems here, I too have experienced many of these including the temperature probe not beeping when the food is done, uneven heating of the oven, chips in the oven paint enamel, temperature reading on the oven different from the oven cavity etc. We had to go through 3 ovens from Dacor and about a dozen service calls in total. After all of this massive collective inconvenience, they did not agree to a buy-back. We approached our dealer Ferguson and they were very professional, taking the Dacor junk out of our home and replacing it with another brand of our choice. My headache is gone; thanks to a responsible dealer who stood by the products they sell. Wish me luck  I hope my new oven is problem free!

I had the same problems with my Dacor range and oven and posted extensively here. It makes me sick thinking about it. In the end I went back to the dealer because Dacor would not even return my calls and I think my dealer pressured them to refund my money. They were going to send the check to them but I told them I wanted the money and they sent it to me. I now have the regular Electrolux oven and Wolf DF range. The Wolf range has performed flawlessly. The Electrolux oven has had a problem with the enamel but Electrolux immediately wanted to replace the whole thing, no quibbles. My dealer's service department has been obstructive to this process=can't seem to receive faxes, refuses to directly communicate with Electrolux, "you have to call them-I don't call the manufacturers." Huh??? I called the original salesman and he is taking care of it. Other than that it works great. What oven did you choose? I hope you get it in and only have to think about what your going to cook or bake in it!

I had a similar experience with my Dacor oven. Dacor put one of their QA engineers in a pickup truck with a brand new oven from the factory, had him drive to my house in Arizona and install the oven himself. Dacor also gave me a free pizza stone & paddle, roasting rack, and extended warranty to compensate me for my inconvenience.

I absolutely LOVE my Dacor Millenia MOH-130 oven. It bakes flawlessly. Dacor stepped up and made everything right.

I wonder how they can vary so widely in the way they treat people. Is it geographic or who you draw in their system or what? I am talking about Dacor and not the dealers. Why did they buy mine back and not nutkins????? sshrivastava, glad that yours works so well!

Gibby3000, the problem was with Dacor's Discovery oven. One of the most expensive oven on the market, besides Gag. It is more expensive than Miele & Wolf. However, to me it is scrap metal.

I'm so glad your oven worked out well for you sshrivastava. You are lucky, I had 3 ovens and they were all bad.

wekick, my dealer just told me they will take care of it and to choose a new oven. My new oven is in; it's Wolf L series. Since I'm on a strict diet for the moment, I haven't had a chance to bake anything. All I hope for is a problem free oven.

Thanks nutkin - sounds like it is the newer models. Those came out right after I bought mine and I kind of thought, hmmmm.....new model glad I got the one that has been around a while. I always think there are a few kinks to be worked out with the first model year(s) of cars, appliances, etc.

    Nutkin88, you were so fortunate!

I have three Dacor appliances, the PO 127 wall oven, the Millennia cooktop and the microwave, as well as three expensive extended warranties. Dacor has replaced every one of them, but not willingly. I had to keep after it continuously.

Sunday's problem was with the wall oven. The sear/convection roast mode didn't and doesn't work properly. I was making a pork roast using sear/convection. For doneness, the internal temp was supposed to be 155.

After 50 minutes, the oven went into the Hold mode which holds the temp at 150, so the roast never got done.

I changed the roasting mode to Bake which indicated that the internal temp was 70 degrees! Even after I roasted it to its specified internal temp of 170, I had to roast it another half hour before it was done.

This is the third incident involving the malfunctioning sear/convection roasting mode.

So today I called Dacor EASE, the entity which issued the Certificate of Coverage for the oven. The warranty for the oven cost $399 for three years. The agent there told me that Dacor had cancelled my certificate which states that the expiration date is 8/17/10. Can a company unilaterally cancel a contract?

However, I would advise anyone in the market for kitchen appliances to save yourself trouble and just bypass Dacor.

I have heard of companies canceling extended warranties because the replacement oven doesn't have the serial number on the warranty. Very dirty! I am going through getting an oven replaced and I am going to make sure that the serial numbers are changed over. Have you read the terms of the warranty? I would ask what day was it canceled? I would tell them that if they canceled the certificate, you were not notified and you were not refunded the remainder of the unused premium. You could have your lawyer write a letter. Maybe your original dealer could help you if you bought the warranty through them or even just by the fact you bought the oven from them. The dealers seem to have some influence. If they fail to do the right thing, at least in the age of computers you have some recourse in word of mouth.

Carlorff, when did your oven start having problems? Is it a relatively new oven? If you have kept all the service calls paperwork and can prove that it is a problem since day 1 and not a wear & tear issue; approach the dealer that sold the Dacor appliances to you and ask them to help resolve the issue.

Or file a claim through small claims court.

Carlorff, what problem did you have with your Milennia cooktop? I have a Milennia glass electric cooktop which cracked just a month after the 1-year-warranty expired, and Dacor refused to replace it. My Dacor warming drawer stopped working a few weeks ago. It has no moving parts, it just died.

I'm thinking I'm never getting Dacor again. What a terrible product, and terrible customer service. I also have a Dacor range hood, so I'm waiting for that to conk out soon.

I have a Dacor 30 in double oven. It is beeping incessantly. It works but it thinks it doesn't. I had it repaired a year ago for $250 in Oct $500 and it is out again. If it is the panel they do not make it anymore (oven is about 8 yrs old.) and I will have to get a new oven. It will not be a Dacor. I do not know what to get.
My mother has had a Gaffers and Sattler double oven for 50 years and it still works!!

problem with "Relay circuit failure". After baking a cake the F1 sign came on the face and beeps until you hit cancel. Keeps beeping.
