OT - 25 years ago

This morning I read some articles commemorating the untimely death of John Lennon, 25 years ago today. Democracy Now! had a great show today on Lennon's life, including song and voice clips linked below.

I was and still am a fan.

Yeah, me too. A real loss. I've been wondering what music he might have had in him these 25 years and more that we'll never hear.

Yes, who knows what new personal revolutions of his would have given us? I think he peaked with #9 Dream though (my favorite).

Boy, that is making me feel my age. I was a college freshman at the time and I really loved Lennon's music. The older I get, the more I appreciate his musical genius.

We missed out too by losing someone with convictions especially about world peace who was not afraid to voice them however unpopular to the status quo. I liked alot of his Beatles work but will always think of Imagine as his signature song. RIP John.

RIH? Is Lennon buried in Hawaii? Which Island?

Might be a bit lower than that, geologically and theologically speaking?

Ask me, The introducing of a group of feminine girly looking men from jolly old England and the subsequent elevation to GOD like status was the beginning of the end for western civilization.

We went from real heroes to POT smoking whiners..and the rest of the world passed us by..now some of our citizens are so stoned they think the song imagine is the code for life. me, I think the song is about what it is like to be "in" heaven no possessions.. No religion .

Did I mention I despise the beetles..I can?t stand any of the songs.

I have a feeling I am going to find out...

    KT, no I don't

Just my best guess would be... speed?

I use to sit at my uncle feet and watch LW all the time..
    That and HEY HAW...

Ah one.. Ah two... Ah three....

    Start the bubble machine Art..

Not sure - I was hoping you knew. I recall whispers that it meant some sort of psychedelic - maybe a brand of LSD. I always thought it referred to the earth seen from space.

I remember LW - Sissy and Bobby and Hee Haw but it was too similar to home and my neighbors. I knew people like Junior Samples too well.

But do you remember singing along with Mitch Miller? That was a family event in my house!

Hey, you guys turned this into an On Topic thread with Crystal Blue Persuasion!

"As BluCrystl says: "The silicon solar cell is a true crystal, blue in color, no pollution, no environmental danger, sufficient power ( I wonder how mankind survived before the use of fossil fuel energy, coal , oil, etc.) and I cannot see one country going to war over another's silicon solar cell photovoltaic panels.""

Plus, this added a dose of P&R!

    The nerve ....

Maybe tomorrow when He looks down
Every green field and every town
All of his children every nation
There'll be peace and good brotherhood
