I've looked, and can't find any laws the specify them having to give notice to enter the property. However, if it says in your lease that they must give 24 hours notice, and that isn't ammended in the section about showing the apartment, I would think it would apply there as well. I just don't know that there's anything that you can do about it, outside of refusing to let them show the apartment unless they give 24 hours notice. But if they have a key, can you really stop them?

I guess if you really wanted to get your point across and they entered without giving 24 hours notice you could call the police and try to get them charged with trespassing. But I'm just not sure it'll make much of a difference in the long run.

If I were your husband I'd be sure to cough on everyone who came in!!!

Thanks for your input. I can't find anywhere in the lease that says how much time they have to give us but I'm still digging. I'm not going to call them on it but I want to be prepared the next time they call. Maybe the scenario today will deter them from doing it again though cuz the place is a mess (finals week at school for me plus we've both been sick) and I refuse to let them in the bedroom when he's sleeping. And I was in my night shirt with my hair dripping wet when I answered the door. Ha ha! Yeah, the couple didn't stay long at all. I'm just waiting for someone to ask me again though how I like living here because I'll tell them EXACTLY what I think this time. Last time I tried to be neutral about it but that was before we were accused of harassment for complaining about the excessive noise upstairs and now this junk. Thanks again!
