check to make sure if your induction requires 50a or 40a.

and 220v as well. Some are direct wire and some of them have a plug I believe.

Just run a 50 amp circuit for the cooktop and you'll be good to go. Since it's new build don't even bother with a 40 amp circuit even if that's all your potential new cooktop needs.

The Kenmore clone of the Electrolux Icon is direct wired, and wants a 50A, nominal 240 Vac circuit. It doesn't provide a connection to neutral, so only two 6 AWG conductors are required (plus ground, of course). The cooktop wiring uses higher temperature wire than THHN (90C), so the connectors used need to be "suitable for the purpose." Wire nuts are rated for high temperature, but not ideal if removal is desired for repair. Suggest taped up U bolts or Allen-keyed connector blocks.

this is good information.

But, whatever you do next, know this: every product has a PDF document on the manufacturer's web site and THIS is where you go get your answers before you say anything to any GC or electrician. Get answers From The "Source". Once you open the PDF and read it, you may then pose a question to the manufacturer (phone them for free, or email them). You may post a question on the wiring forum, or here. But here is not the first source.

Here is a link that might be useful: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/wiring/

grumpydave is right, that will cover whatever induction model you choose.
