I have always had excellent service from TT. I order my pepper seeds from them as well (Camelot and Giant Marconi). If you order online, it gets to them the fastest of course. I usually work through the catalog and order on line with it by my side. One thing though, I have not liked any of the bonus seeds they have sent along so far. I do try them, but so far, they have not turned out to be winners as much as recommendations and testimonials I find here. Merry Christmas all!!

Just don't order the hummingbird feeder that looks like a hot pepper ;-) The food all leaks out within an hour.

Also, expect 1 out of 10 heirlooms you order not to come true to type, which is about normal to every heirloom tomato seed company.

I've ordered 3 straight years from them and will order again this year.

Yes indeed! And if I could only wait for the Sandhill Preservation catalog to come out, I could probably save more $ and get more seed.

And why can't you wait? LOL I see you're in MN so no huge rush for seeds if you grow outsideise and not in a greenhouse. And you can order now to get in line. Maybe they've even finishsed updating the website so you know what's available for 2008.

Because he's one of the many lucky gardeners living in the land of 10,000+ lakes, 4 seasons, etc.. In winter when not shoveling, making snowmen & snow angels, skiing, snowmobiling, watching the birds eat spent seed heads, etc. many MN gardeners are planning their next season's gardens, which includes seed collecting/ordering and growing next years plants (what an invention those grow lights are)! Getting those must have seeds, at times means no waiting around for all catalogs either hardcopy/Internet to be sent/updated for many MN gardeners to get their needed jump on the growing season.

Ah I am going through my pages of 2008 tomato wish list and I only have enough room for 8 plants and 3 have to be heat tollerant as they are on a south facing deck. I requested a Sandhill catelog a few months ago but they were not shipping out the 2007 anymore so I asked they send a 2008 catelog so hopfully I get that as there are some varities in there that I would like to try. Oh if only I had more space I envy the people that can grow 20-40 plants or more. I am not planning on ordering seeds until the end of Jan or Feb. Last year I started seeds on April 1 and put the plants out on Mothers day but we had a warm spring so this year I might wait anotehr week to put them outside. Here to a early spring for us Minnesotans!!

Years ago I had slow delivery issues and a pack of peppers never germinated. The last few years have been fine though.

I feel the need for seed!

I order seeds and grow plants for a couple of local plant sales. The Cans for Sam Plant Sale benefits homeless, abused and abandoned animals. The other sale I participate in is the Dowling Heirloom Plant Sale. Part of the proceeds go back to the Dowling Community Garden to sponsor the Heirloom Festival in August--arguably the poor man's Tomatopalooza in Minneapolis. Follow the link below for more details.

The plant sales give me the opportunity to grow about 25 different kinds of tomatoes, and then see what they look like and sometimes taste like at the festival.

My obsession starts in November when the SSE public catalog comes out followed by the Shumway, TT, Seymour Seeds Triumvirate. Then TGS. Then Johnny's, Fedco, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange and followed up by JL Hudson (A true anarchist), Sandhill Preservation and finally the SSE Yearbook.

The true insanity begins when I begin to pot up 500 or so plants two weeks before the sale. I contemplate hanging shop lights in the living room and think about hanging them up in the garage and parking outside for a couple of weeks. Then fill up the back yard and driveway to harden them off--hoping that I don't have to drag them all back inside when I get home from work at midnight because the goof on the roof (the local weather terrorist) predicts frost.

I have ordered seeds fron Totally Tomatoes, Randolph, Wisconsin seed catalog many times. This year is the last. I have had poor germinations rates (25%) on many of thier seeds. This year 2025, I decided to ask for a refund or a credit for 3 seed packets. They refused, and sent me replacements of the same seeds. By then it was too late to replant, my greenhouse was shut off and sales were begging to decline. I had to send the replacement seeds back to them at my own cost in order to get a voucher which will only be valid to the end of this year when the snow is falling and I,m just beginning to think about seeds tor 2026. They will not stand behind thier gaurantee of customer satisfaction. Forwarned is forarmed.
