Look like brass pulls from the Aesthetic Movement -- 1875-1900??????

I forgot to mention thatI wrote to a couple of Antique/restoration places and they said the same thing. They also mentioned P.F Corbin , Seargent or Eastlake.
They are pretty, I'd like to know more about them.
    Thanks for the quick reply.

Did you try Liz's Antique hardware in Los Angeles? They have a matching service that might be helpful. I don't know what you'll really learn, other than a manufacturer.

Eastlake would have been my reply as well.

I don't think it's Eastlake. It looks more like an Egyptian motiff. There were several periods of 'Egyptian Revival' in furniture from the late 1700s to as recent as the 1920s. Without the furniture on which these pulls were mounted, I wouldn't even venture a time frame on the brass. They may be as new as the art deco period.

I bought an Eastlake dresser many years ago with very very similar brasses.
I would take a picture but my daughter now has it.
Google eastlake dresser and check out the pulls. I really think it's Eastlake era....and now you need to find a chest to go with the pulls!

I very much agree the pulls are often angular and cleaner in design on Eastlake pieces. But, look closely at that design. It's clearly a bird motif in Egyptian style, suggestive of a phoenix. That's a little exotic for Eastlake.

some of my eastlake hinges have a Japanese motif on them - the exotic was very interesting to designers (including Corbin).

Although i haven't seen that particular design, a Google of egyptian and eastlake will come up with hits like this page which shows several eastlake egyptian hinges...

I don't disagree with that, or necessarily what Linda said either because Eastlake was part of the aesthetic movement. But aesthetic doesn't necessarily make it Eastlake. I am familiar that they used a lot of oriental influence and most likely Egyptian too. So, it may very well be Eastlake...but it's one of those things of subsets of styles. Does everything just get lumped as Eastlake, or do you define within catagories.

I don't think you can define a piece of furniture by the brass alone in that particular era, especially. The brass is Egyptian revival. What it decorated may or may not have been in the Eastlake style.

I tend to see the lines of Eastlake-influenced aesthetic furniture and ignore the black lacquer and gold paint. I'm all about the wood. :)

I've only seen a few Egyptian Revival drawer'd items, one had a bar and ring pull, and one had...almost a lion's head pull. I haven't seen this particular shape except on 1870/80 Eastlake stuff. I don't know what the shape is called... (I like teardrop pulls!)

I'd be happy to learn more. :)

Here's the site and I think you can either email or mail a photo.

Thank you all for your input ! I've looked at so many drawer pulls this week.

I did write to Liz's Antique hardware and this is the reply:
We don't know who made them, but we can tell you that--if original, which they probably are but is almost impossible to tell from a photo-- they were made between 1880 and 1910. We don't know much more than that, though.

I'm not sure if we'll ever find out who made them. I'll keep looking.
    Thank you again.
