Beadboard behind a vanity

Trying to update a bathroom as we plan to put the house up for sale. I am replacing the vanity top. How would it look to put beadboard as a backsplash instead of tile? There is a toilet next to this vanity and I don't want to remove it to put beadboard behind it. I'd end the beadboard at the end of the vanity.

I don't want to hire a plumber to remove the toilet. Would it look strange to have the board stop at the edge of the vanity?

Depends on where the vanity is relative to the toilet. Can you post a photo or a floor plan? Are they both on the same wall? If so, I think that would look funny.

BTW, removing and reinstalling a toilet is a pretty easy job.

We've installed bead board behind toilets, twice, without removing the toilet. I'm trying to remember, but I think that the water line ran thru the wall. Beadboard was notched out. DH used strips of bead board, trying to cut in the grooves, and slid them behind the toilet.

Thanks, removing the toilet is out of the question. They are on the same wall next to each other. I'll try to post a pic. The toilet is tight against the wall, I couldn't even slip an envelope behind it. Plus the toilet is a old Kohler which is the elongated shape. The back is short and curved. This project has become a nightmare. Tried to change the shower-head and the pipe broke inside the wall which is tile. Had to cut through the bedroom wall to access the pipe.

    House of cards....

I agree withe the thought- if the two are close, it would look odd to have beadboard just as backsplash.

It would be incredibly easy to do a very inexpensive tile backsplash, though...

Heres a few pics. Please excuse the mess, but I didn't have time to straighten up.

The vanity-top, sink and faucets are going. Don't know what to put there as everything is neutral. All hardware will be chrome.
Took out medicine cabinet and will just hang a mirror

Pic of the whole bath. Very narrow. You can see the beadboard on the opposite wall.

I don't know how to tile and can't afford to hire someone. The beadboard is just panels I got in Home Depot and was easy to install on the long wall. I don't know what to do behind the vanity. Remember, the old top is going. I need to find a counter top and sink.

    Thanks,

    Kate,
I really like the beadboard along the long wall and think it makes sense to run it along the wall with the counter and toilet. But I think trying to cut the beadboard to the shape of the toilet is a mistake. The lesser of all evils in my opinion would be to run the beadboard all the way, have it run up over the toilet with the cap moulding as you did on the opposite wall. I would leave a square strip of plain wall around the toilet, like a frame, maybe edged in a simple moulding around the toilet. Not the best but I like that better than stopping the beadboard at the end of the counter

Tiling a backsplash could be even easier than removing a toilet. :-) On this sink, I just bought tiles and attached them with construction adhesive to the wall. It required 2 cuts of tile, but Lowe's would actually make the cuts for you if you wanted. Or why not just use the pre-fab backsplash that matches the countertop you buy?

Wow, weedy your bathroom looks so much like mine! Very pretty, could you post a few more pictures. I got a good price on a piece of granite and sink today, sight unseen. Called wheat. I like your backsplash and could do something like that. Where did you buy that? I could also hang the mirror close to the sink.

Thanks, folkman, that's another good idea. I'll have to ask the carpenter and see if he could do something like that. Might work, but I like weedy's tile backsplash.
