I have the Kenmore Elite induction slide-in and am very happy with it.

It does boil super fast and simmer perfectly on ALL burners.

My concern with the freestanding version is the layout of the burners -- seems cramped. The slide-in has a perfect layout and I use the front two burners almost 100% of the time.

Using a 66013 since last May and have found it to be very good value for money. Seems to go on sale two or three times a year at $400-$600 dollars off. The induction is so precise you can hard boil eggs at 205 or a bit less with no water splashing around. Very much like using gas burners, way ahead of radiant smoothtop ranges.

The newer model is similar, maybe its induction burners are slightly less powerful. Sometimes there is a great offer for induction cookware as a sweetener. Keep an eye out for that.

Thanks...not sure what you mean by the newer model laat. Is the current 66013 still the same as you have?. I ask what seems like such a dumb question because AEG kept the same model number while dumbing down the power and the features of their cooktop which is why I'm being so neurotic with this purchase.
Are you having any trouble with the seal at the front of the induction top?Do you find your layout cramped?

I bought that range (US Elite 9991) yesterday. I was concerned about the burner placement but I took a 12 inch saute pan and a 8 quart stock pot and put them on the front two burners while in the store. It is tight but workable. I read such great reviews that I decided to go with it. They are closing out that model in the states and I got a terrific price. I also liked the way it looked better than the GE or the newer Kenmore Elite model. I was also considering a slide in but I think for the volume of my cooking and the spills I have that the freestanding was the better option.
