Our home is just over two years old. We recently noticed a water stain above the shower stall. Not from the ceiling, but from the crown moulding down towards the top of the shower's ceramic tile.

We called a plumbing company, who thoroughly checked the entire house, including the attic and could not find a leak of any kind, which is good news, I guess. The closer we all looked we saw that our paint job in the bath was deteriorating, if that's the right word. Very streaky, plus the backing of a canvas wall art that is hung over the tub area had come unglued. The plumbers' opinion was that it was from excessive steam from the shower.

We are guilty of not using the exhaust fan. Just never thought we needed to, because the ceilings are fairly high in the bath. We are using it now, a little late, I know. We plan to repaint with a sturdier paint designed for bathrooms, but were also thinking of installing a small ceiling fan (for damp locations) over the vanities. I've toyed with the idea before, because we live in the South and especially in the summers it seems like it would help.

Do any of you have a ceiling fan in your bath? I would love to see pics or hear the pros and cons of having one.
