glass crystal knobs

We are nearing the end of the master bath reno. The plumber finished the tub plumbing yesterday. All we have left is the shower door, paint, mirrors, window treatment, and knobs for the vanity.

Originally I was just planning on plain silver knobs to match the chrome fixtures, but I've started thinking I might want to dress it up a bit more with crystal knobs. Of course, we are already over budget so I'm trying to save money wherever I can. I like these from Restoration Hardware, but I was planning on spending about half what they cost. I've found I can't really tell from pictures online whether the knobs look nice or cheap. Anyone have personal experience or can you think of anywhere where I could buy them in a store. I didn't see anything like this at our HD.

I think that they are beautiful in the picture although I haven't seen them in person to have an opinion about quality. I understand wanting to keep your costs down since you're over budget (BTDT) but, if you don't find something elsewhere for the price you had in mind, here's one way to look at it... How many do you need? 8 or 10? More? Well, if it's 10 and you planned to spend half the cost of the RH knobs, you'd be looking at a difference of $50 - $60. In the scheme of a masterbath reno, that is quite small for something that could be the final jewels for the room. At least that's the way I'd look at it (ok, justify it!) to splurge if I loved them. I find it funny that, of all that we did in our huge masterbath reno, one of the things that I love the most in the room is my choice in (Schaub)knobs & (RH)pulls!

That type of knob is pretty widely available, at least online, so there's a good chance that you'll be able to find them for a lower cost too. Several websites will sell a "sample" where you buy a knob that you're considering and, if you like it and order more, they will credit you for the first knob purchased.

I hope you'll post pictures of your room, even in progress... we love pictures!

You sound just like my husband. He's wondering why I'm concerned about $60 bucks at this point. The way I look at it is that I might be able to save 50% somewhere else. Also, in re-reading my original post I realized I wasn't really clear. I looked at other glass knobs on amazon, ebay, etc and those were the ones I can't judge the quality of. I can go to the RH store to see these if I decide to go that way. I also fell in love with a mirror that I saw when we were in NYC. I can't find anything I like as much local. The cost of shipping two mirrors is $70. So, I'm trying to justify money spent on shipping by "saving" it somewhere else. Silly - probably. I'd just like to explore more options before I decide.

I do understand, lol. I found myself spending as much, if not more, time researching the small purchases as I did the major expenses in our project. I get so much satisfaction out of finding great deals on the things I buy that I have a hard time making purchases unless I've shopped and compared everything!

Hopefully someone will chime in that has found these knobs at a great price somewhere and can vouch for their quality. You might try posting in Kitchens also since that is a very active forum and some members might have advice for you.

I recently bought vintage milk glass knobs from the same eBay seller Stacey Neil used (billybobbosen) and was pretty happy with the knobs and the service.

As long as you get real glass and not acrylic, I think you can come pretty close to the RH knobs. One way to get cheaper ones is to find the really vintage style that has a metal screw that feeds through the knob from the top, so there's a little metal sort of button on the end of the knob. I wanted pink glass, and found that style at an old-time hardware store in town (not online). Prices ranged from 2.99 to 5.99, depending on the size. They don't have the metal-wrapped base that the RH ones have, but I think they still look really nice. Now I just need to find a place to use them!

That's a lot of money for a basic glass knob. I would buy them somewhere else. Look at Van Dyke's and Crown City Hardware.

Those look very nice. I have to replace the faucet set in my mom's bath and I have to tell you the absolutely cheapest ones I could get were ones with those acrylic faceted globe knobs. Just make sure they don't look like that!

i used identical ones from lee valley. quality seems just fine. they're probably the exact same ones rh sells. not sure on the price at lee valley though. probably cheaper.

I love anthropologie for knobs. They have really nice ones-not recessarily cheaper.

Do you have a hobby lobby close by? They have a suprisingly large selection for about $5/knob.

But after your search if the RH ones are still the ones that you want-then get them.

Thank you so much everyone. There were suggestions for several places that I had never heard of before. I have a hard time shopping on line as I wanted to see and hold them and my husband is pressing for a decision. He really didn't want to wait on me to order samples so I decided to go where I could see them in person.

pps7 - Thank you for the suggestion for Anthropologie. I'd never been in the store before, but found one about 20 minutes away and in the same area as the RH. We couldn't agree on any of their cabinet knobs, but we did find door knobs.

In the end, we ordered the knobs from RH. But, I'm keeping a list of the other places mentioned for future projects.
