Bathroom colours - suggestions please?

Hello,

We're renovating several rooms and our first one is the ensuite bathroom.

We've getting white fixtures (toilet, tub, etc.) and I would love to have a Cherry coloured vanity.

What are some good colours for floor, paint, vanity countertop? We're looking at granite tops and we could get a decent price for either a black or cream coloured vanity in granite at Home Depot. I'm not so interested in the black, because although it looks great, it shows water stains, spots etc. What about cream? I do like cherry wood the best, but not sure how all this would look together - I'm not great with colours!

Also for the floor - we're considering either granite tiles or ceramic and are looking for some colour suggestions.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

The bathroom we currently have is white and silver. White walls, white vanity, white shower head, white tiles, white walls, and silver fixtures. I hate it. I'm sure a clean look was what they were going for, but it looks institutional. UGH! So I decided, when we build our bathroom to do the complete opposite.

We have a tall dark cherry dresser to hold stuff. The sink is a vessel. The vessel bracket which holds it onto the wall is antique copper. The walls will be buttery yellow (See Behr's melted butter). The fixtures are somewhere between bronze and antique copper. The tile pulling the reds and golds together is called Canyon Slate. It looks a lot like this Datile. As you can see, this is a warm muted earthy bathroom. It's not done yet, so I don't have pictures. We do have a white toilet and tub. They're not totally bright, so it's ok. Anything else would look dated, we think, so white it is.

In my previous home we had a cherry vanity in the powder room. My husband and I renovated it ourselves. The sink was a large off white colored porcelain bowl. I used a yellowy creamy color damask wallpaper, and white wainscoting on the bottom. IMO I would go with the cream colored countertop with the cherry vanity- since those were the colors in my powder room I can tell you how nicely they complemented each other. For floor tile- consider picking something that complements whatever counter you go with- if you get cream, complement that. If you go with black something with more gray undertones.

Thanks everyone. We ordered the vanity and of course with the wood colour we want, it will take 4 - 6 weeks to get it. That gives a bit of time to plan. We will go with the cream vanity as it looks like it will offset the vanity nicely. Will give an update later. This is just the small room - next will be the kitchen where there will be more choices to make!
