We just had our Miele Inspira 2181 scvi installed this week.

I'm trying to figure out how to get it to dry my dishes better. How is yours doing in that department?

Funny you should say that, Tantadoodles, I noticed the same thing. Of course, my Inspira is all of 7 hours old so I can't speak to much yet, performance-wise, but I''ll let you know after I read the owner's manual. Yes, I do that sort of thing.

I am ordering the Miele Inspira this week so I would love to hear comments about the drying. this is the only thing that worries me because I am not familiar with non-heating element dw. I was going to buy the KA Superba but it cost $100 more than Miele and since I have heard Miele is the best, I chose Miele.

I hope I am doing the rigth thing. I also like the Clean Touch!

FWIW, our Optima dries pretty well (not sure if the drying system is still different on the Inspira's--I believe they were different when we purchased our Optima in 2006/2007). When the tech was here last yr for an unrelated issue, he apparently bumped our rinse aid level up one notch from the default level of 3 (?), supposedly makes for better drying.

FYI, plastics often don't dry well, but the ability to place them anywhere we want in the DW without fear of them melting is a big + . The recessed bottoms of mugs usually have residual water remaining, depending on where I place them on the rack, but I think that's a given no matter the DW/drying mechanism.

Does this model have an Extended Drying option? On my La Perla Miele, when I select a Cycle, I can then select options (usually something like extended pre-rinse or extended wash and almost always an extended drying option). I use the extended drying option on probably 99% of cycles, and even plastics come out bone dry. Upside down bowls of coffee mugs with indentations always have some water though, but that is normal & expected!

No, no extended drying on the 2141. It has 6 wash modes--about 4 more than I'll ever need--and that's that.

I have the 2142SS, with the cutlery tray, and I have to say that it doesn't dry plastics very well at all, even with the rinse aid that purports to help with this. This bugs DH, but really doesn't bother me that much--I just give them a wipe if they're drippy. If I don't unload immediately, they do dry a little better. In all other respects, it's great--it's quiet (though the old DW was a LOUD portable maytag), it cleans flawlessly, and I also like the basket configurations--the tines that fold up and down and the ability to remove some of them altogether if I want to make it really flexible. Love the cutlery tray. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Let's get to the important part: how fast of a cycle is the fastest?

First off, I'd recommend using the Miele detergent tabs (only half is needed per load), rinse aid, and salt (if your Inspira has the water softener).
I've been using this with my Diamante since last summer with very good results. The only items that have some water left on them are tupperware containers and the concave tops of cups & glasses. It's not a big deal to me, and only takes a few minutes to dry off those few items.

The Diamante is plenty quiet for me. I've heard the Optima and La Perla wash in the showroom, and those are only a tiny bit more quieter (most likely due to more insulation).
All those extra wash options (and other features) on the La Perla weren't worth the $1000 price difference from the Diamante. I would have went with the Inspira, but wanted the few extra features on the Diamante, such as the delay start.
