I am not sure if your husband is an electrician but in my very brief scan of this article it apparently does matter if your cook top is wired to the correct amp service. Apparently the fuse will just keep popping. I suggest you consult that article for starters. I do know when we went to install ours the inspector was very careful to check out whether we had installed the 40 amp service for it.

Hate to be so blunt but, your hubby is an idiot. Don't you find it curious that he's so confident that a 30 amp breaker will be fine when the actual manufacture of the product say otherwise? Building code also dictates that you don't undersize breakers for electrical appliances.

Your house is at risk of burning down, and insurance won't likely help you as the contractor would be at fault and that's you in this case. Get it installed properly.

With regard to the top itself , why don't you call Wolf, your top is under warranty isn't it? They'll dispatch someone that'll tell you the same thing as above.
