I like Plan A better. I think it looks nicer, each of you gets more elbow room at the sink, and the central storage is convenient for both of you. You could even plan to put an outlet inside that upper cabinet, and then electric razor, hair dryer, electric toothbrush, etc. can stay plugged in and out of sight.

There is a code requirement where we live of at least 15" from the center of the sink to a side wall. Will you have that with Plan B?

Sort of a funny story...to start with though, I prefer the symmetry and the additional elbow room that the center tower in Plan A provides.

Had a couple that wanted a design like that, but then they argued over who got the left-side sink, as that had easier access to the tower cabinet due to the hinging of the cabinet door. They bickered so much I got called back for additional design ideas. Each wanted to have their own cabinet on their respective sidewalls, but it would have required reworking everything.

I offered to turn their existing center tower cabinet into a pull-out pantry type of setup. The pull out unit (on slides) had a center vertical divider that divided the slide-out unit into two halves, one half facing each sink. With shelves on each side facing each sink, it was sort of like two back-to-back medicine cabinets but with deeper shelves.

Whew.

I've got a setup sort of like your plan B, except that our sink area is 90" wide. The deep cabinet - ours is 15" wide -- stores towels. We have medicine cabinets over the sink with mirrors on the inside doors. The open to the outside, which makes it great for seeing the back if the head.

That said, I think your current B layout looks cramped. I like our 90" counter.

I like Plan A. Plan B makes me think that the left sink user will feel cramped by that larger cabinet. Plus, the center tower creates a nice dividing line and its symmetrical :)

Woo, seems plan A dominates! :) Well, our contractor just told me that there's a small pipe line in the middle of wall on the very top (was covered by a very ugly top board), which could not be removed unless we redo the attic! So we decide to go with plan A, build the over-the-counter cabinet high and add crown-molding to hide the pipe. I wonder if the cabinet would look too high in that way???

funny, we're contemplating the same layout options. However, with our bathroom the wall is on the left and the right side of the vanity is open to the rest of the room. We're leaning towards option B because it allows for a lot more functional storage space and in our house storage is always an issue. Our total cabinet run cannot exceed 80" and we feel that with plan A the person with the sink on the left is squished into the wall too much.

I'd go with medicine cabinets and skip the tower altogether. A spacious countertop is more beautiful looking. However, I would add that you should be able to set the sinks rather close to the wall to maximize the space between the sinks.

I would install medicine cabinet over each sink anyway since you're ripping up the walls.

Also, you could elevate the tower and have a 10-12' storage area underneath the it, which would look very cool, to raise the entire unit higher and avoid a really heavy crown molding on the tower.

My husband and I recently decided on not doing the tower because we felt on a 78" setup wall to wall it was looking too crowded. Your space is slightly larger, however, here's another suggestion: recess the tower. That way you have more counter space in front of the tower, or as another posted suggested...raise the tower off the cabinet.

Or use one larger trough sink with two faucets...and keep the tower to the side. Can you customize the size of the tower?? See what happens if you make it smaller in width.

My parents are deciding on that same situation. I think they may have a bit longer run, but similar. Here are the four pics from houzz that we used for reference. Ended up going with Option B because of this first picture. (It also helped them make the decision to probably go with one large mirror instead of two small ones.

I am glad to see at least some people choose the same plan as I did. As storage is always an issue, I wished to choose plan B to have more space. But now it's impossible. And now I would fight with my husband on who uses the left side! LOL!
