do some searches on the jennair. the jennair and KA wall ovens are almost identical except for minor differences and gadgetry and i know the KA's have been known to fail after one or two self clean cycles.

The board consensus is take the GE ovens over Whirlpool ovens.

Take Whirlpool fridges over GE fridges.

So take the Monogram.

I would not take the Monogram. I don't know who determines 'board consensus', but there is definitely a contingent who have or had GE monogram ovens and hate them. Rhome and I are among them. I have found GE service under warranty to be horrendously ineffective. My ovens have not been right since day one. I made many attempts to get them fixed or replaced from service visits to speaking with Bill Bower, the general manager of GE. Rhome was able to get GE to buy back her ovens. I was not so successful. My ovens are no longer under warranty. Heck, I won't buy any GE product anymore.

Really, with the history of KA ovens discussed here, the fact that the JennAir ovens are VERY new and untested (no history to check), and with the experiences Cotehele and I had with Monogram, I'd respectfully advise finding a "Plan C." If it were me, I'd look at Wolf, DCS, Fisher & Paykel...or there seem to be plenty of people lately happy with Electrolux or Bosch?

I vote for neither. From what I have seen here, I'd go for the Thermador.

I have a Jenn Air double wall oven and have had no problems for four years, although now it is made differently than when I bought it. Now, Jenn Air and Kitchen Aid are owned by the same company. According to Consumer Affairs.com where consumers can list their complaints, KA has a class action lawsuit coming up against them soon concerning their wall ovens.
After two months of researching, I don't think there is a good quality wall oven out there that can last more than three years. Every brand seems to have numerous complaints and horrible customer service. It's quite frustrating!

Several Jenn Air's have two convection fans whereas Kitchen Aid's have 1. This is a minor difference. Almost.

I've had a Jenn Air single wall oven since last September; the model just under top of the line. No complaints yet! My only complaint is with the speed oven ableit a minor one - it doesn't do well with microwave popcorn (see my new post).

I honestly believe that it has more to do with individual units than brand. A friend and I got a new DW about the same time two years ago - I got top of the line KA and she paid double and got an ASKO. She's had constant trouble while I've had none. So while people on this board don't like Whirlpool brands I've had good luck. I just think there seem to be good and bad in all lines no matter what you pay. It seems that appliances are no long built to last! My mother-in-law is still cooking on a GE range from the 1960's! That is unheard of now.

Anyway, best of luck. I cannot speak to the Monogram, but feel I got a quality oven with the JennAir.

You know something, if appliances were cars, they would be recalled and replaced by now. So how is it that manufacturers can get away with it?

Rudix, I was so happy to see your question that I just joined to be able to reply. I too, have been 'doing the dance' of choosing several new appliances at the same time - it's taking over my life! I appreciate your question and the answers so far.

Right now, about to begin a major kitchen reno, I am considering a single Bosch electric wall oven - either 500 or 800 series - with a non-Bosch microwave above it. This because I have been reading as many reviews as I can find online - this is the best! and none of you seem to like the Bosch microwaves. Am I wrong?

Also, is the only difference between Bosch 500 and 800 series that great bottom rack that rolls out so well? Does anyone know what it costs to just buy the upgraded shelf alone and put it into your 500 series oven?

Right now I am leaning toward a Sharp and hoping that the trim kit will minimize the difference in styles. I am therefore NOT getting a GE Profile due to the shape of the design. Have had two Sharps that seem to last forever.

I actually just purchased the 800 Bosch single but I am only getting it in a month. My decision was based on the controls and because Bosch did a home show where I live and was selling them for a fantastic price. I also asked about getting all ball bearing shelves and they could not answer me. But getting back to the op's question, the only other ovens we really considered were the JA and GE Monogram. As I understand it, the JA is more powerful than the GE and around my area it is also a bit cheaper. The salesguy repeatedly said that although it is now owned by Whirlpool that the engineering is still done by the original JA team. Really I don't know how true that is and I also would never use the Culinary Center features. But then the GE is less powerful and more expensive so I wouldn't have gone with that one. Like I said, I finally decided on the Bosch because I liked the controls (I prefer an actual number pad to that sliding temperature selector on the JA) and because of the great promotion price at the home show.

cape cod gramma... look at aj madison website... 800 series ovens - scroll down and they have the option of buying the special telescoping rack... I **think** it was around 250-75ish - but I don't remember for sure.

I like the looks of the 500 single better and was wondering the same thing.

if I were to get a double (still not sure on that) I don't know... still like the looks of the 500, but both ovens are not convection. To get both ovens convection, you have to go with the 800.

I've had the new Jenn Air Combination Microwave/Wall Oven for about a year now and have been happy with it except for one BIG (too me) thing. The cook timer feature with a delay start does not function. Its not broken just the feature was never written into the software code for the control panel. After several repair calls (from Jenn Air and Sears) to verify that I wasn't crazy a new control panel was ordered but that has been repeatedly delayed. As a side note, this handy feature was one of the main reasons for replacing my previous old, working but very ugly oven. It has taken several months but now Sears is offering to replace this oven and I think will I pay the extra cost for the V2 Convection model (with a different control panel as verifed by Jenn Air). I would wait it out for a new control panel but after a year I don't have much confidence Jenn Air is planning on fixing it. I also want to mention that Sears has been responsive for the most part and I did not have to fight for them to replace the oven. (although I don't have new oven yet so I may be speaking too soon).
I know this doesn't answer OP's original question but it seemed like a good place to relate my experience.
