This looks like it was a cape or ranch and someone put a second level on it. It's a colonial style. I would change the brown shutters and takeout that big tree in front. Maybe soften the base of the chimmney and that part of the house with with some low flowering bushes.

The overall shape of the house looks fine from the street. Perhaps painting the siding a darker gray color would add some character.

I feel the colour of the shutters and the siding should be reversed and even then you could update the actual shade/tone of paint. By darkening the siding and garage doors to a similar colour value of the brick the two will visually blend making neither stand out as much. By lighting the shutters and the front door you will enhance the details and make it easy for your guests to find the door! I would also widen the path from the garage to the front door - at least 5 feet wide and bordered with a collection of urns/pots to add visual interest. Based on my computer screen - siding/garage doors could be Sherwin Williams SW 7525 Tree Branch or SW7550 Resort Tan, Shutters SW7524. I'd have fun with the front door and go with SW7585 Sundried Tomato a red or SW7618 Deep Sea Dive a teal blue. Please do not paint the front door the same colour as the garage door or the shutters - make it the jewel of your home -it's hidden enough. Although I might consider painting the siding in the porch area around your front door the same new light colour as the shutters. Good Luck.

remove the tree from the front door area, whitewash all of the brick and paint the front door red. congrats on your new home!

Looks fabulous - but that tree by the door needs to go - it splits the place in two.
