Interesting problem. Do you want to make it more traditional looking? What are the other houses in the neighbourhood like? Do you want to blend in? Looking at your "box" I might be inclined to go with it and move toward a more modern funky architectural facade. Here's some inspiration from my neighbourhood not too far from where I grow up:

I also think more modern and funky. It all depends on how much you want to invest into the job. As it stands the landscape and the house is a blank slate. You can add different textures and make it modern with wood tones and grey or black stone. Or you can do as little as planting plain green bushes outlining the driveway with planters on the windows to give it a more classic homey look. It depends what look you prefer, what is your budget, what the other homes look like, what the inside of the house looks like etc.

your budget?

The inside of the house is modern; new construction less than 8 mos old. We would like to do something with the entrance. Not a fan of small porch and overall design of it. Our budget is flexible and probably won't start with anything until spring anyways so we can save up until then. I was thinking something needs to be added above the front door?

Before I read your comment with regard to concentrating on the entrance I too thought a change to the front door/ entrance was the way to go. I am not a professional and if I saw it, and you see it, the real pros will check in to support your POV with some solid advice and details. My suggestion to you would be to start by investigating the use of a half-round awning. These are popular in the warm, more-southern parts of Europe where air conditioning is not part of most "home-climate control systems." A gorgeous Spanish style home belonging to my neighbor (in Playa del Rey Calif.) had these awnings at each window. The look was really compelling. Remodel Help Boutique asked the right question. (I'd also like to know if the facade is brick or some other stone.) The use of these kinds of awnings of course certainly depends on the climate in which you live. If you did add an awning and then painted the window shutters the same color, it could be a very attractive way to proceed. Good luck and congratulations on your new home. madeline

Too bad there is a door on the lower level. It inhibits what you can do.

Maybe you could add a porch across the front with stairs to the front door built from the side:

I think landscaping would help. Some tall foundation shrubs on either side of the house. What about narrowing the driveway a bit going up to the house, widening only at the top and add a tall tree and landscaping in front of the stairs to break up the facade.

I'd buy a very large urn for the right of the top front door. I would not plant anything in it. This color is good (photo)

I think that adding a roof over the upper door is key. I can't tell for sure but I think that your existing roof is a low sloped hip roof. You could do a gable or maybe a curved shape roof with some columns over the door. In this case you might consider a double door or door with equal width side lite and then center the roof over th entire assembly which would make it more substantial.If you have a flat roof, you might consider
something more contemporary (a flat roof with cables anchored back to the facade for support ). I would also go for more contrast between the body of the house and the doors/trim. That would help give it some definition.
