Hi, we just installed our 30" Berta range and while it looks beautiful, we can't use it until we get some issues worked out. Any advice?

leaky connection to the range. the berta 1/2 male NPT fitting doesn't seem to seat tightly enough against the berta 1/2 pipe that protrudes from the range. No matter how tight we attach our flex hose's 1/2 female NPT fitting to the range, there is a slight leak (It is slight enough that we are able to test a few things, but not so slight that we're using the range or keeping the valve open after the test).

2. electronic ignition doesn't work on the right rear burner.

3. electronic ignition on the right rear and left front burners also tries to spark the right front burner. this can't be right?!? right front (Double burner) seems to work fine. So we're one for four ;(

4. oven fan seems to rattle, though I've never heard one in action before so maybe this is normal.

5. oven seems to vent into the room thru the door. is that normal? it puts out a lot of warmth.

any help appreciated. We are going to call the people we bought it from tomorrow.

Sorry to hear you are having so many problems. We just ordered our Berta and it will be delivered sometime next week. Please keep us up-to-date on this issue. Hope it gets resolved quickly and painlessly.

The flex hose connection is supposed to be firmly tightened but not overtightened. Start over with a new hose & use pipe dope (not teflon tape) on the threads.

Ok, well, it turns out I'm an idiot. I ignored the supplied regulator packet that came with the stove because I mistakenly read the install manual to say that it was only required if you were converting from NG to propane. I misread it. I should have realized this.

So tonight I'll fix the gas line (assuming I haven't tweaked anything by over-tightening on my previous attempts), and then see how many problems go away. I have to think that we're still going to have the electronic ignition issue, but I'll update the post.

And yeah, I know its not supposed to be overtightened, at first we just firmly tightened, but then since it was leaking, tried tightening and tightening to get the leak to go away. I can't believe I didn't do a better job at reading the manual. So much time wasted...

I'm not an expert on installation but I do love my Berta. My understanding is there a central igniter that sends sparks to all the burners and the one with gas gets lit. Try checking the burner tops to make sure they are on the right burners and properly seated. My contractor found it confusing but the appliance dealer remedied the problem easily.

Yes, the oven heat does vent to the room. I find it very pleasurable in the winter.

Ok, so once I did the gas line properly, it works fine. Duh!
Not sure why I thought that regulator was only for LP. Glad I didn't break anything. And thanks to those that have chimed in, yes, we learned that it is normal for all the burners to spark when you're turning any one on.

So we have only one problem left--the right rear burner doesn't spark when being turned on. The crazy thing about it is that turning on the right front burner actually sparks the right rear one, so we can use the right rear burner if we turn both the right burners on simultaneously, but the distributor is sending someone out to have a look at it.

Now we need to buy a third oven rack (for cookies) and a griddle. The stove looks nice, other than this one burner problem. We'll have the guy listen to our oven fan too and see if he thinks it is normal or too loud.
