Does anyone here own a Viking induction freestanding range? Do you like it?

I am curious about this as well. I have not been able to see the Viking Induction or the Kenmore Induction range- just the specs.

I too would love to hear about anyone's experience with either of these ranges.

I hope that you don't mind that I jumped your thread. I do have to make a decision on this soon. And I am determined to go with induction but unfortunately it has to be a range.

The Kenmore range looks like their other smooth-top electric range in that model type, except it is induction.

The Viking is twice the price. And I think twice the weight.

I can't tell you how sick, sick, sick I am over this. An induction range with knobs...everything I have ever wanted!!! The only induction range sort of available when we planned our kitchen was the Diva de Provence...outrageously expensive and nowhere to be seen so we went with fire (which is what DH really wanted. He thought the Diva was ugly). Anyone want to buy an uninstalled Lacanche Volnay? Hahahaha. Just kidding...he'd kill me. But oh how I love cooking on induction!

cheri... does it help or make you feel any better knowing the Viking induction range is around 6K? Not as expensive as the Diva but still pretty $$$.

Oh, Elyse, what a spoiled brat I've become when it comes to this kitchen. I gotta get a grip! Are you still doing the Kenmore range?

Probably not... as I too am in the brat camp and the Kenmore doesn't have all the features I want. I really like the Miele induction...

The Viking induction is actually closer to $7000 and by the time you pay tax & installation, $8000. According to reviews, the Kenmore performs just as well and they are both the same size - 30" and 2 of the burners are only 6". I think the Kenmore is very unattractive, and since the Viking is so small but still pricey, it does not suit my needs either. I guess I'll have to continue to wait...ovenless...in Texas.

There is a GE on the way sometime in the summer(One GE rep said june another said august) It's a touch control unit with all of the controls behind the burners(booooo) 4 induction burners, 1 warming zone and a lower warming drawer. It may be related to the kenmore but i'm inclined to believe that electrolux is making the kenmore due to oven interior design.

should have a price around $3000-$3500 and model # is PHB925SPSS. I'll keep an eye out for info

The GE range just showed up on their website. Looks like an interesting product.

Would love to see Bosch, Thermador, or Dacor come out with an induction range (Miele or Gaggenau too, but the latter don't have ranges, even in Europe).

Here is a link that might be useful: GE Profile induction range

I have had a Viking induction in a new house for 3 years and have had TWO of the elements go bad already. Viking has been unsympathetic and I would NEVER buy a product from them again. I still like induction and will probably replace the whole thing before spending more money on the second bad element ( $1000). Very disappointing for a high end high price appliance.

I've also had the Viking Induction Range for about three years, would not buy one again and am reluctant to buy from Viking in the future. I don't know if it's only Viking but the elements can be noisy when used - a humming/whining noise that can sometimes get fairly loud.

It's taken us longer to determine that they have power issues when you use the cooktop and oven at the same time. We finally put a separate oven thermometer permanently in the oven. When the oven is going and you start up the cooktop, the oven temperature starts dropping and does not recover as long as the cooktop is being used.
