With so many windows, draperies are OUT. Put plantation shutters and attach inside so your beautiful trim around your windows will show. I would get rid of the orange wall and use a large area rug in front of the sofa to bring in your color and pattern along with pillows on the furniture to bring out the colors in the rug.

Eliminate all "Accent Walls", paint the whole place White Dove with Designer White Trim, get a larger rug for the Dining Table, get side tables and two lamps for the sofa, put a rug there, too. I vote for curtains on higher up Wrought Iron Rods on all windows (so 4 floor to ceiling panels on the sofa wall for example). I like the existing shades.

I like the color scheme just not on the walls

If you can add a hanging fixture over dining table.

Here are some ideas of what will work:

any suggestion for accent pillows ?
I like the ones you have on the chair and the ones on the right side of the sofa. Maybe you can cable knit taupe or off white or orange covers for the other ones on the left hand side of the sofa.

I would keep the walls the same color tan that you have it looks nice with the white trim.

Like all the suggestions above. Keep in mind that dining table rugs must be 4 feet wider and longer than your table size. Yes to changing the ceiling fixtures. Consider a new arrangement of the furniture as well. IS there an alternative connection for TV?
unfortunately I can't make a new arrangement of furniture. I have windows almost in every wall is an open space and in front of where I have the TV right now is the door. Should I take out all the accent walls
    I was thinking in greys.
I like a lot Aggie suggestions but I want different ideas before making a choice .. any other suggestions ??

You could try taking the orange you already have and have the paint store reduce it by 50% for all the walls, it would be great with your furniture and white trim. Use the accent rug Aggie suggested.
She suggested two .indian orange or the brown/ orange ?
I'm sorry, who suggested two? And who makes the paint colors, I'll look them up.

Aggie Suggested two types accent rugs ( see above ) : Tufted Pile Brown/Orange Buds Rug and India Orange Striped Rug - which one you liked?
Oh, ok, now I understand. I'm thinking take the orange paint you already have to the paint store and have them reduce the color by 50%. Of the two rugs, I like the brown/orange a lot!!!

Actually I was thinking both, the Stripey one under the Dining Table and the Flowery at the Sofa.

    And check the sizes!!
Aggie, I love that flowery one! Love the design and the colors!.....Bobbi
  • 13 years ago
ok but if I paint orange the space will look too orange ?? dont you think ??
@Aggie I was looking for the light fixture you suggested but is out of stock :-( .. any other ideas for the lighting ? thanks !
Oh that's too bad, that one looked pretty, gotta search for "Industrial" or "Cage" Pendant, or "Industrial Glam"..
No, I don't think it will look too orange as long as you have the paint store reduce it by 50%. You could also do the same thing with coral, if you prefer that. Coral is a beautiful color, but it may be too pink for you. The reduced orange will probably take on peach tones.
@Aggies : thank you for all your suggestions .. I will look for that type of pendants !
@ Bobbi - Thank you for your ideas .. l'll visit the store to see the two options you suggested !
Great, and good luck, and post some "after" pics! It seems we're all painting this weekend, must be subliminal messages on tv or something!
Thanks Bobbi I will be posting the after pictures I hope everything looks nice ! I will be doing this in two weeks :)

Have fun with it, and don't take it too seriously, ok?
