i would paint one wall the blue from your curtains, and the other walls beige

How is your room set up? Does it flow into another area or is it self contained? You would want to keep some harmony with the remainder of the house even if it is thru accent pieces. Personally I like the golden yellow tones, but don't know how this may affect the overall feel to your home.

the family room flows into the kitchen.. I have dark kitchen cabinets as well.. I am also painting my kitchen the same color.

I would take a swatch of the curtain fabric (or just take the panel if you have to) to find a suitable wall color. I like both the suggestions for blue with a neutral or yellow with a neutral.

You can take the material to paint store that has a computerized color match system. The blue or the yellow would be nice.

I think I would get a creamy color that blends with the background. You really have a lot of options, though.
