Going away party.....

Just thought you might get a kick out of the story of the table. One of my employees is leaving to move to a town in east Texas. The girls wanted to give her a party at my house....yikes!!

I emailed the town that she is moving to and they sent me a packet of brochures and freebies...

One item was a little soft sided cooler, so with a big glass urn, it became a centerpiece with flowers. The color of the cooler set the color scheme of the table, blue and white. The brochures became the table runners, several clip type items were added to the centerpieces and the pie'ce-de'-resistance were two pens...attached to a piece of wire and added to the flower arrangements :^). I got 50 cent stretchy gloves and put bye on each one with stick on foam letters. With the gloves on, it said bye bye :^)

white dishes - Johnson Brothers "Heritage"

silver - Community Silver "Grosvenor"

bye-bye mittens

blue paper napkins

sparkly blue solo cups (75% off Christmas ;^)

Boy! I would never have thought to write to the Chamber of Commerce(?) for info. What a great idea. How great that you thought to make the cooler into the centerpiece. I love the bye-bye idea.
Tell me about the pens? Are they meant to say, "Don't forget to write?"
This is VERY CLEVER!

Those pens were some of the freebie stuff and they advertised the town..
However.... we did make her a basket of "useful" items and it had paper and pencil in it to keep in touch with us :^)
The town is very small, so we played on that theme and filled the basket with items that were funny....
paper and pencil in case of no internet
two cans on a string in case of no telephones
some grocery items that she liked that are special to our town, in case she got hungry...
etc..

J, This is so neat that you hosted the going away party for all and was able to use all the goodies you received for your table. Love your cp with the cooler and you even added flowers. Great idea with all your gag gifts for her.

That was really smart of you to get some items from her new town. And you used them in such a great fun and creative way. Like the idea of the basket of goodies for her too. What a sweet send off for her, and one I'm sure she will always remember fondly. Luvs
