design challenge!

Hopefully, someone has either had the same problem or someone is creative enough to solve a design challenge I'm facing.

In remodeling our small 6' x 7.5' bathroom, we put an old clawfoot tub at the end of the room, then our Toto toilet with washlet, then a wall-mounted sink by the door that looks like this:

Problem: where to put the washlet remote control panel???

If the toilet is in a corner, as it typically is, then the RC panel easily goes on an adjoining wall for easy access from the throne. But since the toilet is now in the middle of the room AND is flanked by two items that don't have walls in which the RC panel could be mounted, I'm stumped where to put the RC panel.

I've considered mounting it on the wall above the toilet, requiring the person to turn around to fetch the RC but am thinking that's inconvenient. Also considered velcro'ing the RC onto the side of the clawfoot tub but not sure if water would be able to somehow drip down there.

Any good solutions?

A c100 takes care of the problem and saves money for other things.

Here is a link that might be useful: Washlet C100

Perhaps there's room for a nice laundry basket or hamper that could be designed and built with the bathrooms tile. Hardware could be inset into one of the sides and look nice.

    Just a though...

dan1888 - already bought the e200 washlet, unfortunately.

john - where would this laundry thing be located? across from the toilet?

Is it not possible to design something that sits under your wall mount sink?

I was thinking about this a work yesterday and got another idea of installing it on a painting or mirror that swings out making it easier to use when mounted behind you. Problem with this plan is that everyone needs to know before hand.

Is there room for a short pony wall between the toilet and sink or tub?

what's on the opposite wall? I would think the opposite wall would be better than behind you -

    Two ideas, neither perfect, they'd have to be modified a bit, but what the heck;

How about installing the control head on a scissor arm that's mounted on the wall? Obviously extension length would be an issue, etc, but an arm sort of like this:

Second idea would be to mount it on one of those free-standing toilet paper holders. Not sure of the width of the remote, but it might even fit between the arms of the tp holder:

debbiejoy - i was actually thinking about this. there's currently nothing across from the toilet, and if i put a stand/shelf across from the toilet, the user could probably just reach over and grab it. i'm living with the in-laws while construction is going on but i'll check that a little more closely next time i "visit" :)

johnfrwhipple - that's not a bad idea. could simply put it in a pottery barn type basket underneath the sink. the user would have to reach under, but it's not a far cry from a magazine basket on the floor. as long as the kids don't kick the basket farther away, which could be possible...

mongoct - while i love those ideas, not sure if a gerry-rigged gadget would look good. might look cheesy?

Like the idea of a Pottery Barn basket under the sink. You could install a few bolts into the tile floor and use wing nuts to pin the basket still. If you give yourself some slack and build a base for the control unit it could sit just in view while using the throne and out of sight when walking in.

If you invested in waterproofing the bathroom floor through out I would rig up a heavy duty velcro system instead of the bolts.

velcro is a good idea. thanks!
