Small bath being remodeled: 5' x 9.5' plus 5' tub (minus 2 x 3' closet).

I like a vintage look but not rigidly victorian. Would beadboard wainscotting make the room look smaller (cut up)?

I want ventage looking but efficient fixtures. My gut says a taller toilet looks "older" but y'all swear by the Totos. And should a small bath have a smaller toilet design-wise? We are removing the tub & surround & putting in a tile shower. Thanks.
