Last Year's Model

Thought I would post a few pics of Valentine tables I did in '08 and '07 before I joined this wonderful forum and had a place to "share" them.

#1 - 2008

This was for a Valentine Luncheon I had last year for my mom, aunt and grandma. I added hanging Valentine hearts to the snowflakes on my chandelier.

Martini glasses were tied up with a red ribbon and a silk white rose and a red glass heart-shaped bead were placed inside. These served as placecard holders (hard to see name-tag inside).

The glass vases along the center are filled with faux snow and have a candle in a votive holder nestled in the snow for a "glowing" effect.

I used black chargers, white/black salad plates and the smaller red plates under the martini glasses. I actually served soup but did not put the bowls on the table to start as I wanted to use the small red plates (only red dishes I have!). We moved the martini glass/plate to the side once we sat down.

#2- 2007

This tablescape was for a Valentine dinner for friends in Feb. '07. That was about the time I first started getting "into" table settings and didn't have near the "stuff" I have now for my hobby.

You will notice I didn't have red placemats so used folded cloth napkins under the white lace ones to get the effect.

I had a mish-mash of glassware and even used blue stemmed champagne glasses with a black/red theme!!

Thanks for looking! I still haven't started my V. table for this year and best get with it! I do have a bit of V. decor up though and hope to share a few pics of that soon.

How great that you were taking pics of your tables even before you found this forum DD. I think both year's tables looked really nice, although I know you have graduated to even more fantastic ones now! Luvs

I have to agree, your tables are both lovely, and you definitely showed that you had a 'flare' for putting together a lovely tablescape. However, as that old advertisement... 'You've Come A Long Way Baby' !

You did a great job on both and love the snow with the candle. I also love how you take the pictures. TFS.

Beautiful! Love the way you've used the cutwork table topper over your tablecloth. And I'm lusting after your crystal candle lamp! Can you tell me where I might find something similar, by any chance? The ones I've seen are either very simple, colored or cute, but what I want is something very similar to yours, DD~ something more elegant. I can tell that your family and friends must love meals at your house . . . I know that I would!

Everything is so elegant. You did a wonderful job photographing it.

I love the luncheon table. I always think snowflakes go well with valentines. I guess because they're lacy. - Gail

Luvs, thank you. I actually had the kids take pics of my tables when I did them 2 years ago since they had dig cameras and I didn't. I never dreamt back then that I would find the terrific people on this forum to share them with.

Jane, thanks! I am happy you feel my tables have "progressed".

dd50, I appreciate your comments. Must have been a fluke that my pics turned out well back then as I knew even less than I do now about photography!

Lynn, thank you. That candle lamp is another one of my Partylite treasures. I'm not sure it is available anymore. I got it for free because I hosted a party and had a lot in sales otherwise I would NEVER have paid the $90, they wanted for it!!! I know what you mean about seeing similar ones but they aren't quite as elegant.

Gail, thanks! I agree that snowflakes and Valentines go together but I never really thought about the "laciness" of the snowflakes being the reason - is true though. I also link the two because we are certainly in winter-mode here in February!

    DD,
I love the first table. Very cute but with a touch of simplicity. The candle stands, the black glasses and the martini glasses on red plates are just perfect. I need the black and white plates you have! That candle lamp in your second table is gorgeous.

Mo, your comment about DD's black glasses just reminded me that I had bought some black glasses that I haven't used yet. I might just have to see what I have so I can do a table and use them! This forum and all these pretty posts is sure great inspiration! Luvs

    Mo, I thought I'd posted but somehow I didn't I guess.
Everything is so lovely. That first photo is especially striking! WOW.

Thanks also to you Mo and Karen! I think it is the colours of red/black/white that makes the tables look more striking even when they are simple.
