New Sweep N Mop

Has anyone bought the new Sweep N Mop from the infomercial? It is supposed to sweep up dirt, hair etc. and mop at the same time. The mop head has grooves along it that open up and grab the dirt and hair. It sounds like the concept will work...and it looks like it cleans great in the commercial, but I'm skeptical!

Haven't seen the infomercial ... but gee, it sound good from your description. Hopefully someone will respond with info!

They were selling the exact same mop under a different name about 5-6 years ago, only it was blue. I bought one locally, not from the infomercial. It mopped ok, but nothing special. I still had to vacuum or sweep first. I threw it out when I got the Hoover Floor Mate. IME nothing works in real life like they claim it does on those infomercials.

My entire house is laminate - upstairs and downstairs - so I have turned into the "mop queen". Tried just about every mop I have ever run across. With two dogs and lots of dust and dirt from outside, I'm desparate for something really good. Between the color and lighting from my windows, EVERYTHING SHOWS.

I went to their website and became irritated when I was asked if I wanted to UPGRADE the tv model for more money of course. I closed their window. Imagine my surpise when a month later, the as shown on tv version arrived at my door. The money was taken out of my bank account the DAY BEFORE IT ARRIVED.

Ok, now as to the test. I wish I HAD upgraded. Now I'm curious. I DO like the mop more than any others in my collection because (1) it does pick up more dirt than most mops BUT NOTHING LIKE IT SHOWS ON TV. (2) Because the mop is such a fine compressed material, it doesn't leave the normal streaks on my floor. It is kind of cheesey in construction - not very heavy duty. Makes a lot of noise flipping from side to side. Durability is in question. And finally, it DOES drip some. All in all, it is still my favorite mop for laminate.

I had one like this back when my kitchen was tiled (not wood like now. It worked well. You do pretty much have to sweep first but it doesn't have to be a perfect sweep job. What I liked about it is it did not leave the floor sopping wet.

It is worth $10 which I think is what they cost in the stores.

Save your money. The Sweep N Mop is rubbish. It doesn't pick up nearly as well as it appears to do in the commercial, it leaves water behind, and it sticks on tiled floors. The handle even when fully extended is too short - I'm 5'4" and had a backache after a few minutes - and it's not very strong. The commercial shows the mop being rinsed out under the faucet. I really don't want my kitchen sink clogged up with the rubbish I've mopped up off the floor.

Fortunately this is a fairly cheap item. It's really not worth the brain damage involved in trying to return it, but if I can deter a few people who might otherwise have wasted their money then I feel vindicated!

My entire experience with this product has been a nightmare and I haven't even used it yet!! First of all, one of my brooms arrived with a wet and mildewed head wrapped in a plastic bag. Secondly, I received no instructions as to how to change the heads. I finally figured out a way to do it with a screwdriver. Easy, no way. In all fairness, I haven't talked to the company yet, but I'm sure there's no excuse for a wet and mildewed head.

Thank you everyone for saving my family a headache & the hassle of this false advertising... My wife really wanted this mop until I found this forum & showed her all the negative feedbacks... Thanks for the heads-up on this nightmare... Take care... Geo

I posted earlier that it was my favorite mop considering my circumstances and how I wish I would have upgraded when I ordered. Both are now at the city dump - one really used and the other hardly used. Construction is so cheesey. The mop head idea is good though - it was better than other similar mops. Lots and lots of room for improvement. Too bad - their loss.

My favorite mop for my laminate flooring is that one you can get from Walmart - starts with a V and is red. It is a microfiber and terry mix pad - kind of like a swiffer. Very easy to use and clean and does fantastic on laminate flooring. LOVE IT. For the ceramic tile, I like the same brand sponge roll mop. Also red. I believe Target is now carrying it as well.

I wish I found this site before I just ordered my mops. I have used the older version by Rubbermaid for years and love the way they clean my white linoleum floors. I've got quite a collection of mops, all garbage. The only trouble I keep having with these is that I keep breaking the handles.

Saw the infomercials and went to the website and was pleased by the oportunity of the Deluxe model with a more sturdy handle.

I would like to warn anyone about this website. They ask for payment information first and you get no opportunity to confirm or change it at the end of the process. The ad was for 2-Deluxe mops for $29.98, and in the order screen it asks for quanity of mops, not sets, thinking if that wasn't correct I'd be able to change it, NOT! You have no opportunity to change or cancel your oder once you've given them your credit card information. So, I ended up ordering 4 mops by mistake, total came to over $102 with $52 worth of shipping, WOW! I finally found the tiny customer service link at the bottom of their page and called. Was told nothing could be done until Monday morning, it's now Saturday morning. I was so upset I proceeded to write the company a letter and was online looking for their street address to mail my letter certified when I came across this site. Can not find any listing of this company in Wallingford CT, so I'll just mail it to their PO Box.

Monday morning I think I'll just cancel the order and go to Walmart and look for the microfiber & terry mix pad mop, haven't tried that one yet, thanks for the information.

WOW! this people treat their customer like this all the time. Be careful before you give them your credit card number. My experince has also been a nightmare with this and exactly the same as the previous poster. I ordered on Friday and they charged my credit card without letting me confirm my order, change or cancel it or to EVEN SEE my total. I called again and again and they said that I have to wait until they have my order in the sytem and when I called the next day (Today) they said they already shipped it and I can't cancel it anymore.
BE CAREFUL. DO NOT give them your credit card number.Isn't it illegal to charge your card without letting you see your total and confirm it???

I'm glad I didn't buy it, too. Was tempted, though. But I found something great! My daughter was moving across country, and threw away her Swiffer, the kind you tuck their disposable cloths into. Anyway, I took a damp microfiber cloth, moistened with some Simple Green, tucked it in, and away I went. It did a fabulous job on my vinyl tile. Afterward, I just went over with warm water for a rinse (my floor was very soiled). I would imagine this would work very well for laminate as well.

Good News & Bad News for PVA Mop Lovers:

The Bad News: The Sweep N Mop Infomercial and Website are well done. However, they sell the worst PVA Mop: It leaches purple dye onto your Pergo floor; the handle breaks (even the updated model); the sponge slips from the gripper. I received no instructions, no invoice, no phone number with my order. The price was 2 mops for $10.00. The shipping (non-refundable if you return your mops) was $17.50 EACH - now lowered to $7.95 EACH! The lifetime refills are FREE - but you pay $8.00 or $9.00 shipping & handling EACH!

The Good News: I found a great company with a great PVA Mop: Super Cool Products markets "The Super PVA Mop". They have 3 sizes of mops and the mop has double sets of rollers - so it wrings out well. They sell these to professional janitors and cleaning services, and you can always talk with a human being. Their Super PVA Mop Sets include a Super PVA Mop, 3 refills, and a duster glove. It includes complete instructions, too. And the price wasn't much more than paying for a Sweep 'N Mop.

I had they same experience as lovesdog. I called customer service and got nowhere. My question, did anyone get restitution or did you all give up?

    hello
gee sorry the see such negative feed back.
well nothing is perfect and the sweep n mop does have its limits. and you really got to work with in its limits.
but for my needs it is the best mop i have ever used.
I do have to pre sweep or vac, due to heavy dirt and such but once thats up the mop gets what i didn't get. and its great for those quick pick up of spills and puppy accidents. and i have found the heads last longer if they don't have contact with bleach.
    well thats my 2 cents

As with all infomercial products it will soon enough be showing up in mall kiosks and other discount stores with falling prices as the months roll by and with never a shipping charge to pay. It's always better to wait. At least if you find it's a dud you can haul it back to the store and kick up a public fuss or just toss it out and not feel to bad about losing all that shipping money.

They are already showing up at state fairs and home and garden shows. Cheap. No shipping charges. And if you waver in your decision they offer an incentive "free" $5 gizmo to help you make up your mind.

You get to hold one in your hand and test it out after watching the twenty minute demonstraition they put on on their booth.

    I did not like them.

I saw the maids in a motel using the old-fashioned Swiffer with a washcloth tucked into the head. I pulled my old Swiffer out of the basement and did the same. Those girls clean so many rooms, they must be on the ball! I also ALWAYS sweep up loose bits first with a broom ,it takes less than three minutes. I have wood in my dining room and tile in the kitchen.

Add me to the victims of the sellers of this product. Like some others have stated, the mops cost $10 but I was charged $76 shipping and handling! A call to the company resulted in being told that I could send them back to get my $10 back but the shipping and handling charge is non refundable. Needless to say, buy nothing from TV infomercials as I have found this to be a standard tactic by researching other TV products on the web. It is a shame because the mops seemed to work well for me. Part of the blame rests on me for not finding out the shipping and handling charges before ordering. Live and learn. Thank you.

I think this is the greatest mop since sliced bread. I have had mine since 2005 or 2006 when they first came out and I love it. It cleans walls and ceiling. It sweeps while mopping and it almost drys the floor for you. I am sorry that others have had bad luck, but I Love this mop and it saves hours of extra work. What I also like is that it can not germinate bacteria because the mop head gets as hard as a rock really cool. I have tried a lot of stuff through infomercials and this was one of my best buys and finding mop heads that are cheap is really easy.
